Philosophy

We make modular synths for sonic explorers.

Our designs are unapologetically digital and provide access to untapped worlds of sound.

We like to call it “Future Coast” synthesis. Rather than east coast, or west coast, we get inspired when we find new sounds or techniques that haven’t been fully explored in the past. Especially when they involve algorithms behaving (or misbehaving) in unique ways!

We want to find out where electronic sound can take us, and make new discoveries and music along the way. Join us for the ride!

Our Story

Qu-Bit was founded by Andrew Ikenberry in 2013 while a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston. The company was formed out of a desire to bridge the worlds of computer music and analog modular synthesizers.

Today, that dream is alive more than ever! We’re now based in San Clemente, CA and have grown to include an entire staff of people passionate about building electronic musical instruments. And we’re happy to report that we perform as much of our manufacturing process in-house as possible. From SMT assembly to test and calibration, we take pride in our instruments and craft each one to our own exacting specifications right here in our shop.
